About Us

Ragwort-UK was set up in 1998 with three goals -

‘To bring back the Cinnabar moth as a common visitor to our gardens and hedgerows’

When we have succeeded, Ragwort will be ravaged by the caterpillars and will no longer produce the huge levels of airborne seed that it has been creating over the last years.

Once the invasion of Ragwort has been stopped, we will be able to concentrate on bringing the huge seed reserve now in the soil under control

‘Through our web site, bring together all current knowledge and information relevant to Ragwort and its impact on our society’

Ragwort impacts many aspects of our society, most in a negative manner, some beneficial. Through research, contributions and links we hope to make this site the first stop for Ragwort related information.

‘To promote through our web site and through Educational Packs, the importance of Biological Control in balanced ecological systems, and the inability of man to fight systems that have become out of balance’

In our legislated and controlled society it is easy to forget the huge power of nature and our unthinking reliance on its stability.  Awareness of the fragility of many of these natural systems and of man’s total inability to control the forces of nature is vital to our future.  The false belief that anything can be controlled by legislation is dangerous.  The example of Ragwort is a valuable lesson of the importance of learning to live within our world, rather that off it.
